On 18th March, colleagues from across our Same Day Care service attended a Safeguarding Study Day designed to strengthen awareness, confidence, and best practice in recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns.
The programme covered a broad range of important and often complex topics, including Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Bruising in Non Mobile Babies, Neglect in Older Adults, The Threat of Social Media, and Domestic Violence. Each session offered staff the opportunity not only to deepen their understanding but also to reflect on how these issues present in real clinical settings.
We were fortunate to be joined by a number of expert speakers who delivered insightful and engaging presentations throughout the day. Their knowledge and real world experience brought these subjects to life and encouraged meaningful discussion among attendees.
Safeguarding is a responsibility shared across all areas of healthcare, and events like this play an essential role in ensuring our teams remain vigilant, informed, and confident in taking action when needed. The conversations that continued long after the final session demonstrated just how strongly the key messages resonated with colleagues.
Thank you to everyone involved in organising the day, to our speakers for their invaluable contributions, and to all staff who took part with such enthusiasm.
Together, we continue to foster a culture where patient safety, protection from harm and promoting welfare remain at the forefront of everything we do.
