On 5th June 2024 NHUC held its inaugural conference on Urgent Care at the Ark Centre, Basingstoke Hospital. There was an excellent turn out to be part of the conversation with our CEO Felicity Greene, Medical Director Caroline O’Keeffe and to hear some guest presenters. We were delighted to have such a broad range of experience and skills in the room, and this lead to some energising debate.
Flora McCabe from Locktons gave a useful insight into Coroners’ Inquests and the processes behind these, and a special thank you to Melissa Mead from UK Sepsis Trust who gave an incredibly moving presentation about her experience of navigating the urgent care system during the loss of her son from sepsis. We discussed the current thinking around Modern Primary Care and Integrated Neighbourhood Teams and had a robust discussion on whether Urgent Care should be a speciality in its own right. Planning is now underway for our 2025 conference.
