It was a pleasure to work alongside the Greater Rushmoor Nepali Community to deliver an education focused engagement event on Monday 1st June, helping raise awareness of who NHUC are, the services we provide, and how local residents can access the support available to them.
Rushmoor is home to the largest Nepali population in the UK, and building strong, inclusive relationships with this community is an important part of ensuring equitable access to healthcare services.
A key focus of the event was breaking down common barriers and misconceptions about accessing care. Through an open myth-busting discussion, we addressed questions around language support, confidentiality, cost, accessibility, and how easy it is to get help. This helped to build confidence and reassure attendees that services are designed to be inclusive, accessible, and responsive to individual needs.
The event was very well attended and saw strong engagement from participants, with many asking questions and showing a genuine interest in better understanding how to access care. There was clear enthusiasm to continue building a positive relationship, with a shared commitment to ongoing collaboration and support for the community.
We are proud to play a role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the Nepali community in Rushmoor and look forward to developing further opportunities to engage, educate and work together in the future.
